The FLASHKOPI brand originates in Singapore; its original owner is LEEWAY PTE. LTD. In 2021 LEEWAY moved into the Chinese market and filed a trademark application for FLASHKOPI in China; the trademark was registered in 2022 (registration no. 59886113). In the same year, LEEWAY entered a strategic partnership with TANING INTERNATIONAL (Hong Kong), a company under WeiManduo Group, authorising the TANING team to take full responsibility for FLASHKOPI's product development, store operations and brand marketing in China.

In 2026 the China National Intellectual Property Administration issued its Notice of Approval of Trademark Assignment/Transfer Application, approving the transfer of the mark from LEEWAY PTE. LTD. to TANING INTERNATIONAL. In the same year the FLASHKOPI butter egg waffle project launched officially, with the first store in China opening at Guangzhou's Liying Plaza.
The name: FLASH stands for shine and freshly baked; KOPI comes from Singapore's Nanyang coffee culture; and Shanbi Bear is an original IP created by the TANING team. The product line centres on butter egg waffles made with buffalo milk and no added water, served with Nanyang-style Kopi coffee and tea.
